Jet Lag Sucks

I have jet lag, which is not a surprise considering the trip home took twenty eight hours from door to door. That included two layovers on top of the transatlantic flight!  Add to that the fact that we had just a couple of hours sleep before the 2 AM wake-up knock…we left the ship at 2:30 AM to catch the shuttle to the airport…and well, it is pretty clear why I feel fuzzy headed! Ironically, I had no jet lag going the other way, even though the white nights/crazy long days are supposed to make the transition more difficult.

Oh, and did I mention the cold?  It seemed to hit everyone on the ship…amazingly, my husband got it before me. So I got to enjoy my vacation, but the misery got started on the trip home. I watched every movie Lufthansa had to offer during the two flights.  Some were better than others, but it kept me entertained.  The service was especially good on the flight home and I thought the steward in our section was fabulous.  We were the very last row of the plane, right in front of the crew’s jump seats.  They thought I was German, which threw me, until I realized they saw me watching a German movie, Rabbit Without Ears, even before they handed out headsets.  LOL

I managed to take 642 photos in Russia, not including what my husband shot, so photos will follow!  It just might take me a couple of days to get started.  A surprising number of them are fiber related, so there should be a little bit for everyone!

Be back soon

I know it is kind of tedious when I do not update my blog regularly, but this time I have a good reason…I am on my way home from Russia!  That said, I will share photos and stories about the adventure very soon.

This post is brought to you auto-magically by WordPress.

Animal Children

I just thought I would share some photos of the babies.

That is Roscoe being cute in the basket. The next shot is Princess digging in the mud. Rudy and Louie are snuggled together on the sofa and Oscar is on the floor doing dog yoga and looking old.

Play pretty

I bought another bedlah/belly dance costume from Trish. The hip belt fits, although just barely! I need an extender for the bra, but that should not be too hard to make. At least the cups fit, which is the most important thing for me.  I can not get to work on it until I place an order with Cartwright’s for just the right sequins.

I am very pleased with the costumes that I have purchased, even though I have hardly worn any of them!  I am still working on a crazy quilted hip belt, but I have not really gotten very far.  I need to work on it some more and do a follow-up article on CQMagOnline!

Woo hoo for Whitney!

OK, I already admitted in an earlier post that I started watching America’s Next Top Model during one of my trips to Atlanta.  Blame my sister Janice, she is the reason I started watching it and Project Runway!  Anyway, I was actually excited when Whitney won!  She is the first full-figured model to win the contest and, with luck, she may really get work!  Whitney is stunning looking as a brunette or a blond, although it is hard to consider her plus sized, when she is almost six feet tall and a size 10!  I get that things are skewed in the modeling industry, where samples are a size 2, but it is so odd to me that the people modeling clothes for Lane Bryant can not even wear them!

That said, I actually was impressed with both of the semi-finalists and would have been happy if either of them had won. Who am I kidding, I was rooting for the underdog!

Flash Floods

There were flash floods in Jackson. Although we were high and dry, my good neighbors were not so lucky. My husband snapped a few photos of the water in the streets and front yard, so I thought I would share them here. There are actually streets under all that water!

I am still here

I am sorry that I have not been posting.  I have been spending in inordinate amount of time on the sofa watching mindless television, except for Saturday when I went to the Mississippi NeedleArts meeting.  It seems that I have not had much motivation since returning from Atlanta.

Speaking of Atlanta, I talk to my mom frequently.  According to her, she is steadily improving. However, talking on the phone is just not the same as seeing her and actually watching her progress. I look forward to her release from the nursing home, but that will not be for several weeks.

Well, that is enough computer time for one day, it is time to go back to the sofa!  As shameful as it is to admit, I kind of like being a bump on a log, sometimes it is exactly what you need.

Trying to find my groove

I am trying to find my groove again, but I have felt so tired since coming home to Jackson.  I freely admit that I spend most of my days sleeping late, sitting on the sofa and watching TV, without even pretending to have needlework in front of me.  I did manage to make it to yoga three days last week, plus bellydance class, but I feel so tired and sore…and whiny…lets not forget whiny!  I am really suffering for the Thursday class, it was heavy on abs, but I suppose it is a good thing that those muscles twinge every time I access them!

I did manage to read the GCC that I am piloting for EGA and pull out the materials list, but that is as far as I have gotten.  I am impressed that it is so well written, which has not been my experience with all Group Correspondence Courses.  I need to find my mojo before we leave for vacation and I really need to take the pilot piece with me.  When I said I could finish it by the date needed, I never imagined that all of this would happen to my mom.

Anyway, I also need to finish the last Artist Trading Card, so that I can finish the swap for CyberStitchers.  I hope this public admission is meant to goad me into action!  If I can manage to get off the sofa for more than a couple of hours.  Maybe.
